Top 10 Motivational Books You Need To Read

I have read countless motivational books over the years, but there are several I go back to again and again. They inspire me. They motivate me to be a better person and to go for my dreams.

1. The Power of Positive Thinking by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

This is a book that I not only read over and over, it is one that I try and keep a few copies on hand to give away to people who I think would benefit from reading it. As with a few books on this list, it’s an oldie, but a goodie. It’s definitely one you want on your motivation/inspiration book shelf.

2. Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude by Napoleon Hill and W. Clement Stone

If I keep 2 copies of The Power of Positive Thinking on hand, I need to keep at least 3 to give away of this book. It is powerful and one that Dr. Peale recommends. It is filled with great stories, examples and “rules” to live by if you want to live a successful life.

3. The Success Principles by Jack Canfield

Ever wished you could be coached by success guru Jack Canfield? Don’t think you can afford it? Then pick up this book because it’s a great start to setting your life in motion to realize your ambitions.

4. Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion and Purpose by Tony Hsieh

This book was a recommended reading by Social Media expert Sandi Krakowski. I must say that I was blown away by the lessons I learned in this book. It is more than a story about Zappos, it is a story of triumph over defeat and how important it is to keep going, even when it looks like everything is going to fall apart.

5. Awaken The Giant Within by Anthony Robbins

What can I say about Tony Robbins? He is THE motivational guru and is known for helping people reach their fullest potential. This book will inspire you and make you believe that anything is possible.

6. Think Big by Donald Trump

Donald Trump may have had a leg up by being born to a successful entrepreneurial father; however, it was Trump’s own “Think Big” attitude and vision which propelled him and his brand from millionaire to billionaire status. You may not care for Donald Trump, but you can learn a lot by following his lead.

7. Jump In: Even If You Don’t Know How To Swim! by Mark Burnett

Mark Burnett’s philosophy is to take action and forge ahead, even if you don’t know what you’re doing. Learn while you earn! Fear of failure, fear of looking foolish, fear of the unknown, fear period, is what keeps us from realizing our full potential and living the life of our dreams. Mark Burnett inspires you to not just dream big, but to take actions on those dreams, even if you don’t have the foggiest idea how to do it.

8. The Secret (and along with it The Answer)

Many people are familiar with the DVD The Secret, which relates to the Law of Attraction. John Assaraf, who appeared in the DVD, wrote a follow-up companion book entitled, “The Answer.” I would get both of these books and read them together. But remember, the Law of Attraction is just one law working in this great universe God created for us. Make sure you take Mark Burnett’s advice and take action while you are visualizing our desired outcome.

9. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

This one is a classic and should be in every entrepreneur’s library. I cannot imagine you have not heard of it, as nearly every successful person I know recommends it. It’s a proven formula for reaching the success you want to achieve. Buy it, read it and start following it’s advice.

10. Talent is Overrated: What Really Separates World-Class Performers From Everybody Else by Geoff Colvin

This book goes with the Outliers 10,000 hours rule. This says that it’s not talent that makes people great. It’s not just practice that makes people great. It’s DELIBERATE practice, and a lot of it, that produces the Tiger Woods and Warren Buffetts in our society.

I hope you enjoy these books as much as I have. I continue to pull them off the shelf and read them regularly to inspire and motivate myself to be the successful person I want to be.

Have an awesomely spectacular day!
