Stop Making Excuses!

I think making excuses is one of the biggest reasons why people are leading mediocre lives.

Excusitis and fear combined are a deadly combination when it comes to getting what you really want out of life.

What is Excusitis?

It’s a deadly disease of the mind that tells you why you can’t accomplish something or have something or do something you really want to do.

“I’m too fat.”

“I’m too old.”

“I’m not smart enough.”

“I don’t have time.”

Stop! Stop making excuses for not going after what you want. Stop making excuses why you can’t get that job. Or go to that school. Or live where you want.

Excuses never got people anywhere. They never accomplish anything.

I’m reading a great book right now called, “The Magic of Thinking Big.” You can grab that book HERE. One of the chapters talks about excusitis and how it stops most people from achieving the things they dream of doing.

Stop saying things like, “I can’t get that job, because …” or “I can’t go back to school, because …” or “I can’t achieve that rank, because …” or all of the many, many excuses you can come up with as to why you cannot have the life or the job or the body that you want.

Because that is all those are. Excuses.

If you want to get a certain job, figure out what is required of that job and get to work on making it happen. If want to go back to school, you can make it happen. If you want to achieve a certain rank in your organization, you can make it happen. Look at what those who are at the top did to get there and follow their advice.

One of the great things Tony Robbins always says is, “Success leaves clues.” It’s a great sentence because it’s true.

Your path may be a little different, but if you want to do what someone else has done, you can do it. Look at how they trained, what school they went to, what did they study and what path did they take to get them to where they are.

You can take that path too. It’s not too late. You’re not too poor. You’re not too dumb.

Those are things you’ve been telling yourself for so long, your subconscious mind has picked them up and it whispers in your ear every time you want to stretch yourself.

Tell that voice to have a seat and zip it up!

Instead of telling yourself, “I can’t” ask yourself, “How can I?”

“How can I get that job?” “How can I learn to do that?” “How can I accomplish this?”

You can find the answers. You can do and become anything you want. Dare to dream and dare to take action on your dreams.

Cure excusitis by taking action. To take a cue from Nike and “Just do it!”
