7 Reasons You Need A Blog

Many people may be thinking, “I don’t need a blog. I don’t have that much to say.” I’m going to tell you 7 reasons you need a blog.

If you’re an entrepreneur like me, then having a blog is almost a necessity. But what if you’re a stay-at-home mom? Or a teacher? Or a truck driver?

Yes! You should still start a blog! And here are my 7 reasons:

1. Blogs are the new Resume – In today’s digital world, everyone (or practically everyone) is online and engaged. If you are looking for a job, or trying to get a new client, it is pretty much a given that they will Google you to see who you are and what you’re all about. Make sure it’s a message you want people to read.

2. Networking – Just like in the above reason, most people will Google something when they have a question or need an answer. I have met some really great people online by asking questions on their blog, joining in conversations and “meeting” people on the internet.

3. Streamline Your Ideas – Sometimes it just helps to write an idea out and figure out your solutions as you write. There is something about writing that lets your imagination flow and you find your creative ideas unleashed. Try it and you’ll be surprised by what brilliant ideas come your way!

4. Reflection – Sometimes by reflecting on what has happened in your past, you are enabled to step forward into your future. Again, writing about what has happened is cathartic and allows you to release the past and move forward into a more positive direction. You can look back, reflect on what went wrong and make better decisions for your future.

5. Peace of Mind – As you concentrate on writing out your thoughts, there is a release that happens and helps to put you in a better place emotionally.

6. Enhance Your Writing Skills – By writing your thoughts down in a blog, you are better able to see your writing style, look for grammatical errors and make corrections. All of these will help you to be a better writer and that, my friend, can help you in all areas of your life.

7. Contribute to the world around you – Everyone has something to give to the world. Even if you don’t think you have anything special to say, there is someone out there who is looking for information you possess. Don’t be stingy! Share your knowledge with the world, even if it’s an old family recipe, a cleaning or beauty tip or how to organize a garage. Someone is looking for that information!

I hope these 7 reasons will help you decide to write a blog for yourself.

What would you put in your blog?
