What is the Secret to Success?

Jack Welch participated in a conference where he answered, “Find out what your boss wants, then over-deliver.”

Leadership guru Michael Hyatt defines this as the “Wow” factor. It’s not enough to just have a product. You must have a product that makes people go, “Wow!” Think about the iPhone or more recently, the iPad. Were there other cell phones and computers out there for people to buy? Of course! However, people were lining up to get these Apple products when they were first introduced because there was nothing else in the marketplace just like them.

They exceeded people’s expectations for what a cell phone could do.

No matter what you do, whether it is network marketing, coaching, cooking, etc. if you over-deliver what your customer/boss is expecting, you will get that ‘wow factor.’

People who go out of their way to over-deliver make an impression. If you have someone who goes above and beyond what is expected of them, you will take notice. You will remember them.

This does not mean you have to be the smartest person in the room. You just have to be willing to go beyond what you know is expected. This means you must choose to go above and beyond. You must be intentional.

I believe to be successful, no matter what you are trying to do, means going the extra mile. Whether that be giving your boss more than they ask for, or putting in more hours at your chosen career than anyone else.

Anyone can play golf, but to be as successful as Tiger Woods, you would have to go the extra mile. This might mean coaches, trainers, sports psychologists, managers and a good caddie. You would never reach a Tiger Woods’ level of success by just playing golf every day.

Are you willing to got the extra mile in order to succeed?
