What Is Your True Calling?

What is your true calling?

Do you know? What is it that has called to you from the time you were young? What is it that you can’t stop thinking about?

I have known many people throughout my life who seemed to float from job to job, goal to goal and vision to vision without ever really stopping to take into account what it is that they really want to do with their life.

They wander through life wondering what their purpose is supposed to be. What are they supposed to be doing with their life. Have you had that problem?

Do you know why you are here? Do you know what your special purpose is?

When it is all said and done, we are all here for a purpose that is beyond our understanding. God has a plan for all of us. I had a friend once tell me, “Life is a puzzle and all we can see are each of the individual pieces. However, God has designed the puzzle and he can see how each piece fits together to make a beautiful picture.”

I like that. Whenever I’m confused by why something has happened or not happened, I always think back and realize that I don’t know what the final picture will look like and that I only see a few pieces of the puzzle at a time. I trust God to put all of the pieces together in perfect order.

Some pieces may look like they should fit together, but don’t. Some are obviously never going to fit together and others are so perfect you know that is exactly where they should be.

If your life is not working out the way you thought it should, you might be trying to fit one of those pieces where it doesn’t belong.

Here are some things to consider while you are trying to find out where your particular puzzle piece fits in life.

1. How does what you’re doing make you feel?

When you are doing what you’re supposed to be doing, it leaves you feeling excited and energized. You are being fueled by the experience. In other words, it just feels right. It feels like this is where you are meant to be.

2. Does it have a positive impact on others?

If it makes you feel strong, connected, and aligned with yourself and it does the same when you shared it with others, then you are more than likely on course. Whether you are baking cupcakes, sketching photos, choreographing a dance or helping a hurt animal, if it is having a positive impact on someone or something else, you can feel good about the path. I do not believe that any calling is meant for you alone. Like a puzzle piece, it’s meant to go with other pieces somehow.

3. Does it turn up the volume and increase the energy level of your life?

Whenever you are becoming who you are meant to be, you are more awake, alive, and ready to play a vital part in the world. When others see your light shining, they’ll be inspired to shine theirs, too and isn’t that a beautiful thing?

Whatever you’re doing right now, stop and ask yourself these three questions. Don’t worry if you can’t yet answer yes. Use these questions to start figuring out if you’re on the right path to your purpose.

Have you found your life’s calling?
