No Running Today

Yesterday my legs felt like lead weights that weighed twice their normal poundage. It was like running in quicksand. I can’t figure out if I didn’t hydrate enough the day before, or, if it was the Taco Bell Taco Salad that did me in. Or maybe it was because I didn’t eat any dinner the night before.

Yes, I was tempted by the Taco Bell Taco Salad and now I am regretting it. Not only did my legs feel horrible yesterday, but my stomach was not at all well yesterday.

However, I did run yesterday and I also swam my laps. I have a theory, unfounded except for my gut “feeling,” that swimming helps my legs recuperate from that morning’s run. I know it probably doesn’t make any sense. Like I said, just a feeling. If anyone has a scientific reason why that could be the case, I’d love to hear it.

Because of the fact I was not feeling well last night when I went to bed, combined with the fact I stayed up late watching “Honey Boo Boo Chile” (I know … I know), plus hubby’s returning from Nashville today with all of our leftover stuff that was in storage and I’m going to be carting boxes (and my BIKE) into the garage later, I’m just going to swim today and give my legs a rest.

In the latest issue of Runner’s World, they have tips from Olympic Marathon athletes. They say to listen to your body and that’s what I’m trying to do, so no running today.

After working on my novel this morning, I will be eating lunch, swimming and waiting for my husband to get here with my bike!
