I’m doing Week 5 of the Couch to 5K

Well, I’m sort of doing the plan.

Today, for the first time, I jogged 8 minutes straight. Then, I walked for 2 1/2 minutes and jogged another 8 minutes straight. I’m going to continue doing this for the rest of this week and then next week, I’ll up this to 10 minutes.

The week after that, I’m going to go for a full 20 minute run and see how it goes.

At least that’s the plan. I’ve had so many disruptions to my running schedule since I started this thing, but the important thing is I’m still doing it. I haven’t quit. I’m actually progressing!

I was going to continue doing the 3 minute and 5 minute routine, but the last time I ran, I actually went ahead on my last run and ran 6 1/2 minutes and felt good, so I thought I might be ready to run a full 8 minutes this morning and I was!

This was absolutely not something I could have done when I started this thing.

Sadly, I had to do my run alone as my husband does not seem to enjoy running and said he just wants to swim for his exercise. That’s okay. I just plug in my earphones and crank up the iTunes and all is good.

Oh, and it was raining this morning when I went out. This is about the fifth time I’ve been running in the rain and I like it. It’s different and kind of fun.

This morning, I guess because it was raining, no one else was out and about. The ducks were sleeping by the lake, bunnies frolicked in the grass by the path where I run.

It was quiet and peaceful and I had a great time.

My pace is not that fast, but I figured I’d get my time up first, then work on my pace down the road.

I’m very happy I’ve started this journey!
